Strength of a Woman Sculpture

"Art, for myself, is the choice vehicle in which I can express any area of interest that occurs in my life. It is where the physical elements of earth, the human element of manipulation and creativity, and the breath of spiritual element come together. My ideas usually begin with the current environments I find myself within as well as the materials that are found within that environment. This often leads to using tools and materials that might be considered unorthodox. I find that the orthodox tools one associates with making art, sometimes create limitations which I wish to go beyond. To take something that is common and "every day" and turn it into something unfamiliar and extraordinary, to give it a new face or add in a new layer of meaning, is my main motivation in making art."
