The Web We Weave Sculpture

The Web We Weave was inspired by the plight of our water fowl in their everyday encounters with our plastic waste. It kills them in a myriad of ways... our everyday discarded items. Things we do not even think about can spell a slow death for an innocent animal. The Web We Weave is a steel spiderweb, consisting of apx 600 welds. I have woven plastic trash bits that I have collected, myself, over the years in parks and at beaches. I have affixed this "tapestry" of trash to the web with galvanized steel wire. It is a message to us all... our waste goes somewhere and plastic never goes away. The web we weave, as human beings, is so much more tangled than we realize. It is so unfair that our planet and fellow earthlings should pay such a high price for the simple convenience of plastic. This piece is intended to make you think about where your waste goes? Why is so much waste even necessary?! A change needs to take place... won't you join me in the revolution?!
