Zhukov was born in Azov, in the Rostov; a south- western region of Russia in 1972. Zhukov was always deeply fascinated by sculpture as opposed to traditional figurative painting, as was commonly accepted at the time and hence went on to graduate from the St. Petersburg State Academy of Art and Industry in 2006. Consequently to graduating, Zhukov went on to not only continue working with three dimensional works of art but also teaching at the Department of Drawing in the St. Petersburg Academy of Art and Industry between 2006 and 2008. His teaching did not prevented Zhukov from contributing towards personal and group exhibitions of his works, as well as participation is larger installation projects. Hence, 2004 saw Zhukov assist in one of the largest installations in his personal history: ‘The Ark’, at the Menage exhibitions hall in St. Petersburg, which is famed for its tendency to represent emerging artists as well as acclaimed authors. In relation to membership to the National Union of Russia, Zhukov became a member of in 2009, consequently to his successful graduate exhibition. Zhukov’s works have a wonderful presence in space: they dominate without being too intimidating; they have a certain motion which is in sync with the activity of the room. Zukhov’s multi-layered works are perplexing, as they appear to be simultaneously fragile and yet substantial. The fused layers and textures within the works signify his amazing ability to blend what at first are deemed as being antagonistic surfaces. This technique is idiosyncratic of the artist. Zhukov is currently residing and working in St. Petersburg
