Things You Can't Get Anywhere Sculpture

Born in Oxford in 1954, Stephen Fox began making sculpture, untrained in 1986. After initially carving wood, stone became his medium of choice in 1990. He migrates between Oxford, Normandy, and Westbury Farm Studios in Milton Keynes. Influences are: everything, but mainly, the thread of twentieth century sculpture which runs through Gaudier-Brzeska, Giacometti, Brancusi and Hepworth.

In his work, abstract and figurative try to live together, and inform each other, as might science and religion on some hitherto unachieved earth.
