Foundations of a Creative Life T. Miles is a sculptor and painter based in Southern California, whose creative path began in his hometown in Wisconsin. As a child, he constantly modified everyday objects and furniture, driven by a hands-on approach to problem-solving and a fascination with how things work. He explored puzzles and spatial design with enthusiasm, building an intuitive understanding of form, function, and aesthetics-skills that continue to shape his artistic vision. From Architecture to Art Initially drawn to architecture, T. Miles followed his instinct toward creative freedom and earned a Fine Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. After graduating, he moved to Southern California, where he built a career in advertising while deepening his commitment to painting. Through abstract work, he explored color, shape, and rhythm-extending his lifelong fascination with visual structure and design. A Sculptor's Return T. Miles discovered stone sculpture during a weekend course at Otis College and quickly turned curiosity into passion. He studied further at the California Sculptor Symposium in Cambria and honed his craft at the Dellatolas Marble Sculpture Studio on the island of Tinos, Greece. Years later, he reignited this passion by joining a supportive community of sculptors working in a shared industrial space which alleviates the challenges of working with stone in an urban environment. Today, while painting remains part of his practice, stone sculpture stands at the core of his creative life. Nature, Behavior, and the Power of Form T. Miles works with marble, alabaster, limestone, and onyx, blending painterly techniques with sculptural form. He applies light, shadow, and texture to explore the complexity of the human experience. His work often investigates power dynamics —between individuals or between people and nature— while also honoring the raw beauty of the natural world. Inspired by hiking, camping, and travel, he continues to evolve his artistic language through a deep curiosity about the world around him.
