When applying gold, the ancient technology of water gilding was used. This is a compound made from egg white and clay. Traditionally, this technology is used for gilding icons. The basis of the gilded surface is created with the help of gesso, which consists of chalk and glue. When applying gold, ancient technologies are used. One of them is water gilding. This technology is used for gilding icons. In some works, gold leaf is applied to a special lacquer. So gild domes of churches and interior items. These techniques, based on the game of reflection and absorption of light, create the impression of a spatial volume and transformation of the image.
