This style of work is only a step away from painting for Liam, here he constructs a surface from found objects which he feels have an intrinsic beauty. The timber frame contains the work and teak corridors dissect the space creating rooms. Old earth strip found buried in a wall during a renovation project has been meticulously cut up to form a herringbone tiling pattern as have copper pipe been sunk in resin appearing as some organic growth like coral. Both have corroded in such a visually satisfying way that the natural beauty demands to be preserved, displayed and admired. This work reflects Liam interest and experience of architecture and construction both in its appearance and the nature of its construction. It also reflects upon humanity's use and manipulation of the natural world to meet its own requirements to aid development and also how quickly functional things become redundant.
