Urn Sculpture

The work focuses on the development of 3D Printing and the processes popular 3D Printers use of additive layering. In this case the process has been mimicked by the human hand so the very parts of the process the technology tries to hide have been exposed as something that is extrinsic to the experiential nature of the work. The wax polished plinth the work stands on juxtaposes another type of handmade labour; the skill of the craftsman with the explorative approach of the artist in an attempt to question humankinds relationship to objects and the value judgements we place on them.
