About The Artwork

When we feel vulnerable, we build a wall between us and the world. We hide our thoughts and feelings behind the wall in fear of being unloved, misunderstood, rejected. When we feel vulnerable, we hide the truth about ourselves inside a shell built from our fear, shame and uncertainty.

Born in Belarus in 1990, artist Olga Bezanson lives and works in Barcelona. Originally studying architecture in Lithuania, she moved to Spain in 2014 to get her master’s at the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB). Inspired by a rich textile heritage of Catalonia and the creative spirit of the region, Olga decided to stay in Barcelona and try her hand at fiber art. Starting with a flat tapestry, she soon moved on to volumes and fiber sculptures. Textile and fiber artworks by famous Catalan artists such as Aurèlia Muñoz, Joan Miró, Josep Grau-Garriga and Antoni Tàpies strongly influenced Olga’s development as a fiber artist. Today Olga’s work is a combination of old textile practices with their new reading.
