ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The theme is always Ocean Acidification another environmental and social problem which i like to talk about. Is a personal experience that makes me studying about Ocean acidification. I was living in a beautiful island in Indonesia and i saw that in few years the coral reef was almost disappear... My goal is to use my art to foster awareness of ecological and social problem. I create wall sculptures dedicate to this theme, but here i'm talking about The Flood! What will happen if al the north and south pole melts... can we see that? So i create the wall sculpture using plaster mixed with cement and other materials and for the other surface i used tempera, pigments, gold powder, silver powder, exhausted oil, gesso, cement and other material mixed together, then i dry it under the sun and covered with ice many times until the material mixed as i like. In the end i use a glass resine to recreate the water effect of the surface. The result is massive! Shocking! After i made the mainland i poured in the right amount of the material to create the oceans and after days this material start to cracks and moves until it covered parts of the mainland... automatically some country on the seaside reduce on size and some island disappear completely! Is that what will happen in the next future?

Alessio Ceruti was born in Varese, Italy, in 1980. He is a self-taught and full-time artist whose artistic training began in his father's business in 1994, where he worked on the finishing of sculptures for many famous artists such as Michelangelo Pistoletto, Not Vital, and Remo Salvadori. These artistic influences increased his desire to communicate using his own language, focusing on the study and use of metals, recycled materials, and painting. With studios in Milan and Bali, he has had the privilege of collaborating and exhibiting with artists worldwide. His art has been featured in numerous group and solo exhibitions spanning Europe, Southeast Asia, and the USA. His artistic process is unique and involves a blend of multimedia techniques using different materials. In his work, he delves into the intricate relationship between humanity and nature, both conceptually and abstractly. In addition to his artistic pursuits, he is a free diver and scuba diver. Back in Bali, he is studying and working on a Coral Gardening Program and conducting experiments on shells. He is also researching new recycling materials using Styrofoam.
