About The Artwork

The observation of nature has guided my hands in shaping this clay. I would like to convey to those who see it the sense of movement of the hands that move in a spiral; the clay is very ductile and has allowed me to better express the movement to spiral translate

Benvenuto SUCCI was born in the municipality of Macchia d ’Isernia (IS), lives in the surrounding countryside receiving a great enrichment of forms, smells, colors and sensations, which will impregnate all his artistic work. He sought the principles of form and rhythm in the study of human subjects and natural objects, such as pebbles, rocks, trees, plants, etc .; coming to consider sculpture the infinite variety of any existing or imaginable structure. Eclectic and multifaceted artist: graphics, painting, sculpture are his daily bread. In the sculptures of Benvenuto Succi there is a connection to the great English artist of the twentieth century Henry Moore, both for the scope of the poetics and for the use of the voids. Benvenuto Succi often makes use of holes, holes, and cavities that allow space to penetrate and relate to the interior of the sculpture. The figure remains recognizable but is located on the edge of abstraction. He works the material creating the idea of full as if the air passed inside the cavity and inflated the shapes that acquire volume and roundness. In painting emerges the almost obsessive study of nature, of trees, which seem to be built with small, very small pieces of colors, put in their place following a careful and continuous observation of the environment that contains and contains them, and listening to the sensations that derive from it. His canvases, his drawn sheets are a phantasmagoria of vital and sunny colors. The graphics are dry and synthetic: the signs, always slender upwards, seem cut in the stone. The same figures that repeat themselves, almost as if doubling, tripling, multiplying, remind us of its carved stones. His attention to organic forms is very strong in all his artistic manifestations. Writing also occupies an important place in his training. He published IL TRILITE with the historian Emilio Gentile and the painter Antonio Amorosa. He lives and works in Isernia in the Fragnete district. His sculptures are the heritage of various public bodies, but also of private collectors. He made a funeral bust for the wife of dr. Eliodoro Pirone, writer and poet. His painting and graphic works are also owned by public bodies and private collectors.
