About The Artwork
human nails # 5 consists of many individual wire nails that are connected to one another by targeted welding points and thus unite to form an abstract, human figure. The steel sculpture was mounted on a section of an old hanza (little hayman) which were previously used by the farmers for haymaking. However, due to the technical modernization of haymaking, these are rarely used nowadays and lead a shadowy existence. In this series something new emerges from these relics. The upper area of the sculpture was processed with different tools and the surface was sealed with a matt clear varnish to prevent the steel from oxidizing. All sculptures by Manfred Hellweger are unique.
