ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Pin Piece No. 3 explores the juxtaposition of materials and the heightened sensation created when an object is taken out of its customary role. At first glance it appears to be something familiar, almost uncanny - it is in a state of becoming. The pins are simply placed into the material and remain in position with gravity. Inspired by the collection of discarded textiles acquired from a family member, I sought to give new life/purpose to the past. The cascading piece hangs easily on a wall from a standard nail.
