Hazel Miller’s large, figurative paintings reference art history, botanical life, and the body to make phenomenological observations about selfhood and womxnhood. She researches Zen Buddhism, psychedelics, and feminist theory, all which emphasize the unity of the mind+body and the internal+external. Her inspirations include Henri Rousseau, Kerry James Marshall, and Henri Matisse.

Originally from San Antonio, TX, she now calls Spokane, WA her home. She holds a BFA from the Pacific Northwest College of Art and is a recipient of an Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation grant. Her work is featured in both regional and international collections.
