Bruno Lehoux (55) and Philippe Lopez (53) are French sculptors.
They have been surfers and friends since the early 80s. Their love of the ocean and their sculpting skills has brought them together to create a line of functional sculptures inspired by the shape of the whale tail.
Since the early 90s, with the Balaena bench and the Baleak fountain they have introduced the whale to cities, parks and gardens. Thanks to their sculptures, people can admire scale 1 reproductions of whale tails and become more aware of the mammal's impressive size, great beauty and fragility.
More recently they have designed a line of small scale whale tails for indoors.
The materials and the processes involved in the making of these sculptures are chosen for their low impact on the environment.
