VIEW IN MY ROOM
Despite the seriousness of the materials used for their fabrication (plastics from supermarkets, creased paper, pieces of ripped doormat, stolen marbles from a child ), Coda’s animals do not really manage to scare. However, they also don’t make you laugh. A strange paradox. Between an undisguised humor and the observation of someone who has drawn a lot in zoos with his students, these creatures are at the same time realistic and improbable. They almost have something human. It’s weird, but we get attached to them easily, we wish we could adopt them, become friends and play with them. But make no mistake, first of all, this is painting. The work of a curious artist who doesn’t settle with tried and tested tools, and for whom the least piece of string becomes a medium for creation. A lot of strength and poetry emanate from these images which behind their visual lightness, is the fruit of a long experience and a certain talent.
