This mosaic panel was made of 100% recycled paper and the feedstocks are packages and boxes of daily products. I love the idea of being environmentally friendly and reusing materials. The Styrofoam used before for sound insulation became a good and stable base for the panels, once wrapped and covered with kraft paper and glue. The creative process starts there. The design was finished with cotton threads from an old Guatemalan scarf. The mosaic is inspired by Magritte's painting Raining Man with closed umbrellas, about the contradiction of the man's behavior. This mosaic panel is full of colors and represents a rain of women. They are dancing a dance inspired by ancient Sufi whirling dervishes. Each one is different from others, in personality, colors, symbols, and intention, but they are falling in a similar position wearing the same dress model. They are sun and moon, lightness, wind and rain, butterflies, mushrooms, music, flowers, atoms, balloons, stars, hot and cold, seven colors of the rainbow... The symbols are powerful tools for influencing our thoughts and actions through the unconscious, they send us clear messages even if the mind does not interpret them rationally. These female characters are raining over Paris inspiring harmony, inclusion, diversity, acceptance, non-violence, freedom, science, but mainly peace and resilience. They are fire, earth, air, and water.
