The following explanation is necessitated by the fact that many viewers initially blush at these works, presuming them to be the fruit of computer technology. In actual fact, the artist, instead of canvas, uses a sheet of uncut banknotes and, instead of paints, he uses fragments of banknotes of the following denominations: one and two dollars; five and ten Euros; five and ten pounds; fifty and one hundred roubles. All banknotes used are authentic. Autumn (The Queen of the United Kingdom, Elizabeth II) is made up of English banknotes of five and ten pound sterling denominations. The five pound banknotes are chosen for their violet and turquoise colors, the ten pound banknotes are orange, yellow and light blue. Such a palette shows the fading colors of autumn well. The glitter of her tiara, necklace, and earrings is achieved using the holograms used on British bank notes and distantly recalls the frozen autumn raindrops and the arrival of winter. At the exhibition, visitors must have the opportunity to see the back of each portrait, to ensure the authenticity of the money and thereby the authenticity of the art itself.
