ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This original artwork is of Puck, the playful faerie of Shakespeare's play "A Midsummer Night's Dream". I like the idea of Puck being a lovely faerie in the guise of a woman. I have given her the beautiful flowers found in tropical forests of New Guinea - (the Flame of the Forest) in her hair along with buds of Spring and leaves to complete her head dress. I am not sure if Shakespeare would approve of my version of his Puck, but I hope so! I am enjoying using collage to compliment my portraits. I could just paint the flowers etc, but I decided it is rather nice to give more of an effect using my self-made flowers, leaves and buds and bits of lace and papers that I have on hand. The collage is very securely fastened/glued to the canvas on a wooden support and is light weight.
