About The Artwork

In this thought-provoking juxtaposition, the brain and the atomic bomb merge as symbolic entities, representing contrasting facets of human potential. The brain, the epicenter of consciousness, embodies the immense power of intellect and creativity, driving humanity towards innovation and progress. It symbolizes the vast potential for understanding, compassion, and advancement. On the other hand, the atomic bomb epitomizes humanity's darker impulses – destruction, chaos, and the potential for catastrophic consequences. It serves as a stark reminder of the responsibilities that come with wielding knowledge and power. This evocative imagery urges us to reflect on the delicate balance between harnessing our intellectual prowess for good or allowing it to become a destructive force, emphasizing the critical importance of responsible decision-making and compassion in shaping our shared future.

I am Luxembourg-born scientific illustrator and artist living in Hanover, Germany. For a couple of decades I was a copywriter for Honeywell Bull, Nokia and Siemens. Then I slowly slipped into computer graphics. I specialized in illustrating molecules and fullerenes for a long time. In 1988 I received a recognition of the Prix Ars Electronica for my graphic "Funnel". In 2023 I started doing AI illustrations. I live together with my partner Elke Leger, my favorite photo subject, and a turtle named George.
