Looking for a Reason, 2023, 24 x 24 in., is an original digital Techspressionist painting on Chromalux HD aluminum limited to edition of 1/1. This original digital painting was inspired by my need to look for a reason for the slaughter of innocents. As citizens we are all existentially affected by the actions of others. As a digital artist, I use algorithms as building blocks and my artistic eye as a foundation to create art. My digital painting is the resulting bridge between technology and art. Techspressionism utilizes a great range of technology as a new tool with which one can express emotions in digital art. My laptop, painting programs, and printers serve as studio, brushes, palette, and canvas through which I communicate my artistic concepts and enrich my act of expression. I draw emotional inspiration from existential moments. The environment, politics, and human experience are sources of inspiration for my art and compel me to memorialize my thoughts and emotional reactions to events. Hopefully, my art helps viewers to relate to, and think about, common societal experiences. My Techspressionist style has been influenced by abstract expressionism, geometric abstraction, minimalism, the color field movement, and my background as a stone and paper sculptor. The unlikely pairing of emotions with digitally painted geometric shapes, lines, and colors helps me to push my art to new levels with each new effort. My digital paintings are a perfect pairing of technology and Art.
