Sailing at Frensham - Cubist Montage Print

^ Click on Prints (next to where it says Original) to see the print details ^ Sailing boats on a local lake were the inspiration for this picture. The boats were having a small regatta sailing around the buoys in the lake. There are several paths around the open heathland surrounding the lake that make enjoyable walks with plenty of nature to see. My picture attempts to capture the experience of a walk around the lake enjoying nature and watching the sailing by using a cubist composition of several aspects of the walk, much like you would in real life. My artwork explores the cross-overs between photography, collage, digital art and cubist paintings as a way of capturing memories and imagination. The pictures are created using a pen and ink style digitally, based upon my own photographs, and are printed with high-definition inks on stretched canvas. The shapes and shading of the fragments picture reflect the shape of the sails and the bright colour scheme was chosen to bring an energetic element into the picture. Impressionist principles like abstraction were used to help the viewer imagine the scene.
