Maximization style artwork from the Ultramax series. More colors, more shapes, more patterns, and since I outsourced my intelligence to Artificial Intelligence, even more fingers, more frenzy, more lunacy, more everything! Stefan Sonntag has decades of experience as a medical illustrator and animation artist, combining computer created imagery with traditional handmade work. Generative imaging added a new layer to his design process. And to the shape of human beings: Artificial Intrelligence may be good at structures but notoriously bad at recognizing systems and concepts. The inability of AI to come up with a correct human anatomy is legend: 6 or more fingers per hand, three legs, bizarre posing. Stefan explores these malfunctions and includes them in his artwork, which may look correct at first but reveals its faults on closer inspection. Images go through hundreds of iterations until a compelling and complete artwork is achieved.
