About The Artwork

Abstract Expressionism and Mark Rothko I love Rothko and his colour-field artwork. I find it really difficult to look at his work without being pulled in and giving it a go and it fascinates me every time I experiment with colour as it is so much harder than it seems to create these moods and these incredible serenities. But it's a wonderful exercise and I feel experimenting with colour combinations allows me to understand the importance of how colours work together and just the range of colour combinations that Rothko worked with. I began with yellows and violets and I am still experimenting because basically I just enjoy doing it and I just find it fun! I created this on my iPhone using the basic flow airbrush on the Sketchbook app. It's a really nice tool because the colours just blend and melt together. I seem to work with these two colours more often than others but I love the challenge of working with other combinations although I haven't escaped violet quite yet. I'm just going to have to keep experimenting. What can I say? watch this space!

As an artist, I am fascinated by the interplay of surrealism and symbolism, weaving intricate narratives that blend the tangible with the intangible. Drawing inspiration from my upbringing in a family deeply rooted in the arts and my experiences traveling through America and Mexico, I find myself interested by the exploration of memory, emotion, and the natural world. My creative process begins with intuitive drawings, evolving into expressive paintings that delve deep into the depths of human emotion. Through a combination of textiles, mixed media, and digital elements, I aim to create works that invite viewers on a journey through a world rich in colour, pattern, and abstraction. Themes of folklore, mythology, and personal experiences often find their way into my work, serving as a mirror of observations, emotions, and convictions. Whether it’s advocating for animals, people and the environment through protest art or capturing the beauty of nature through painting and photography, my art is a reflection of my innermost thoughts and beliefs. With each piece I create, I aim to evoke a sense of wonder and introspection, inviting viewers to explore hidden depths within themselves.
