Brother Speed has been a staple in the American Motorcycle culture for longer than I have been alive. His motorcycle is almost as much an icon as the man himself. Over the years I have been honored to call him my brother.

"Christopher Lewis Supertramp” Christopher Callen believes that the common thread throughout the culture of the motorcycle scene is and always has been the passion for the art and creativity of craftsmen who eventually find their way to it. For that reason, it has been his pleasure to capture that culture for the past 22 years through articles, photography, motorcycle builds and in his art. For as long as he can remember, Chris has been creating art. As a young boy, that was his only real interest. In high school, he attended Vo-Tech with the intention of becoming a graphic designer. Unfortunately, he dropped out in the tenth grade and never acquired the training, and didn’t pursue a career in art either. From there he would still manage to keep an interest in it by doing fabric airbrushing on T-shirts and jackets and an occasional drawing, but art was put on the shelf to make time for a career. As fate would have it, Chris would eventually find his way back to art years later when he launched the publication, Cycle Source magazine. With no money and no secondary training, he and a band of misfits managed to take the magazine to the national newsstands in just eight short years. During that time, Chris would become great friends with artist Seth Leibowitz, who started to do David Mann like paintings in the pages of Cycle Source. Their hour-long conversations about art prompted Chris to pick up the tools again and get started. Seth took him under his wing, starting with acrylics and eventually moving on to oil paints, giving him inspiration and technical instruction as they went. Now that the publication is approaching its 17th birthday, Chris has been afforded the time to delve back into his artistic roots and rediscover his passion. Although it was the culture around motorcycles that first attracted Chris to this lifestyle, he now had the chance to bring light to that aspect through his own interpretation in art. Through countless hours of work with Seth, Chris has honed his skills in color modeling and depth to the point that he has moved on to using a variety of media. The images of his heroes and the places he has traveled are all conveyed on paper, metal and canvas using oil, acrylic, charcoal, chalk, pastel, airbrush and spray paint in sometimes vivid detail.
