I try to make sense of dreams and systems. Ah, a silly sign; “Someone else is living that kind of life already, there’s no room for another you.” This is what they want. I remember this one time, I was sitting across from him in his office and he stood up, walked up to me, hugged me and told me that he had missed me. Those three words had frightened him so much that he threw his body into a corner - almost like an unseen force had pushed him - And I think the act of an unseen force pushing him into a corner, deconstructed the meaning of those words again: “I missed you” had now gotten an entirely different meaning: “You’re a threat to me”. He comes from a family of immigrants, so does his wife. His appearance is consistently sober but not per se unattractive. He just wants to go unnoticed. Shackle his vile marbles. That way, no one will ever suspect anything, or so he presumes. Discard the thoughts that my existence or those of others could possibly have occupied a region of his mind. Or that certain aspects of his wife are replaceable. That his wife could be a variable on a Friday. Never to be mentioned again.
