I am an artist of Turkish heritage living and working in London. I changed careers from investment banking to art in my 30s. I produce abstract paintings and illustrations inspired by my decades long meditation practice. I grew up as the son of a Turkish diplomat and lived in many countries including Taiwan, Turkey, Italy, Argentina and the UK. I studied economics at Cambridge University. Later in life I studied Psychology and Art at London University. In this course I was awarded a university prize for my research papers. Since then I have been exhibiting and selling my artwork privately. I find the process of painting very intense. I feel very energised and focused. There is a dynamic between hesitation and being willing to commit. Every time I add a colour and make a mark there is a tremendous amount of emotional build up. It’s a bit like blowing into a balloon, which then bursts. There is an experience of release and letting go. All that gets projected into the work. Ultimately that is very joyful, very satisfying. I hope the onlooker can experience some of that when they see my work. Besides painting I also work as a meditation teacher and psychotherapist.
