Choreographic Drawings “A choreographic object is not a substitute for the body, but rather an alternative site for the understanding of potential instigation and organization of action to reside. Ideally, choreographic ideas in this form would draw an attentive, diverse readership that would eventually understand and, hopefully, champion the innumerable manifestations, old and new, of choreographic thinking.” William Forsythe This series of works is being made from the relations between dance and visual arts which is not being approached in my usual analytical way of making a choreography but is released through instinctive creation of visual artworks. First time after twenty years I come out of the institutional system and being confronted with fears of that “freedom”. It is the moment of dealing with fears, challenges and dreams. No one to lead, guide, praise or reprehend me. With this work I try to follow myself. Listen to artistic instinct in which I trust much more than any concept that I can think of in this moment. I release my body - movement - to lead me and my eye to direct. I deal with paper the same way as I deal with dance. I use different intensities, forms, tensions, textures, fullness an emptiness, pauses and dynamics, literally and allegorically. The process of the work is being visible in the final product. Imprint of the movement is staying inscribed on the paper through repetitive or singular movements of different intensities of contact on the surface. This way I try to catch ephemerality and inconsistency of dance. Drawings that are created are the product of my dance, they are my flattened dance.
