About The Artwork
This work is made from earth from the property it is on, partly removed from an irrigation canal, and from recycled straw from agriculture and from building a straw bale house. It is unfired, changes with time, and can be repaired. Some ancient art in Peru is made this same way. These unfired clay, or adobe, works are a meditation on impermanence. The oldest has sat outdoors for several years, and required minor repairs. They appreciate some care, and also look interesting as they change. Impermanence. Although it would be possible to move this work, it would be easier to build another in another location. All it takes is clay, straw, and sand. That is really what I am offering, to build another.
