Η Μεγάλη Άρκτος (Λατινικά: ονομαστική Ursa Major, γενική Ursae Majoris αστρον. σύμβολο: UMa) είναι αστερισμός που σημειώθηκε στην αρχαιότητα από τον Πτολεμαίο και είναι ένας από τους 88 επίσημους αστερισμούς που θέσπισε η Διεθνής Αστρονομική Ένωση. Είναι αειφανής στην Ελλάδα. Υπήρξε ανέκαθεν ο γνωστότερος αστερισμός, ως προς το τμήμα του με το χαρακτηριστικό σχήμα της «κατσαρόλας» ή το λεγόμενο «άροτρο». Ως ο τρίτος μεγαλύτερος σε έκταση αστερισμός [1], συνορεύει με οκτώ άλλους, που είναι οι εξής: Δράκων, Καμηλοπάρδαλις, Λυγξ, Μικρός Λέων, Λέων, Κόμη Βερενίκης, Θηρευτικοί Κύνες και Βοώτης.
