i tend to draw in series based on an idea or concept or parameter. some of these themes have included, fashion forward, people are people, other peoples selfies, political icons, kissing, xxx, arousing women, the salish sea, the major arcana, a girl and her dog, and various bands and private patrons who have allowed me to include their lives into the thread of world reflection i am building around me. this piece was originally from a solo show called selfie, kissing, politics. i made this in 2014. later i named the piece communicating with plants after a listening obsession with mort garrison's plantasia. this piece feels very pop to me, like an ad campaign for migraine relief. having dealt with a length of life engulfed in physical pain and battling that pain with artwork, yoga, massage, accupuncture and heavy meditation, being an observer, i have come to find that looks are often deceiving. what could look like pain or distress could maybe just be a really heavy conversation with a plant.
