Digital black-and-white versions of my handmade painting Mosque of Pecs. T he original is pure encaustic, hot wax, and pigments on OSB. 2017 The painting depicts the Mosque of Hassan Pasha Jakovali in Pécs. The shadow of the minaret is cast on the County Hospital. I saw this scene a lot in my childhood. My mother worked as a nurse at the hospital and I often went there at the end of her working hours to walk home together. The Mosque of Hassan Jakovali is one of the best-preserved Turkish architectural monuments in Hungary, the only one where the mosque and the slender minaret connected to it can be seen together in an almost unchanged form. It was probably built in the second half of the 16th century. The mosque has a historical exhibition of Turkish monuments discovered in the city.

„I show the details instead of the whole, sort of inviting the viewer to embrace and understand their surroundings” Dora Stork was selected artist in the London Art Biennale in 2023, an award-winning Hungarian painter whose art has appeared in solo and group exhibitions in the UK, Hungary, and Romania. Her work can also be found in many private collections in the United States, the European Union, and Japan. Dora is an abstract realistic encaustic artist: abstract in the world of color, realistic in the world of form, and symbolist in meaning. As a politically minded painter, she is interested in public life as well as social and economic processes. She presents her particular vision in these works. The dreamlike compositions are her intuitive reflections on public issues. At the same time, seemingly astonishing, strange circumstances and inappropriate details on a rational sphere might evoke questions in the viewer. She mainly uses pure wax and pigments to make her paintings. Over the years, she has developed a medium that does not contain oil or any non-waxy additives. When she occasionally paints with acrylic, the characteristics of her figurative style transform into an imaginary interpretation of nature. Dora is an active, awarded member of her community and regularly takes part in their group exhibitions every year.
