Born in Holland but living in England for the past 30 years. London based. Educational background (university) in maths and computer science. Worked in IT and data analysis for over thirty years. No training in art, and poor drawing skills. A very visual person, who always appreciated art: paintings and architectural drawings in particular, who dreamt of one day being able to create ‘arty’ visual images. Never expected that IT my knowledge would help me achieve that... Data is the starting point of my work. Much of my work is about visualising data (I use datasets from real life) in different ways. I employ all sorts of software, some of which I also programmed . My art is more about choosing an image from the many my computer helps me create, than making. Serendipity is my guide. While in ‘playing’ mode, an image appears in the screen which strikes my aesthetic sense as being worth retouching and publishing. Making the right choice, and creating the finished product is the difficult part.... Data is the starting point of my work.
