Still life with flowers and a painting, painted with iPad Limited editions are printed by my self, and come with my signature. *** This painting is a painting, in which there is a painting painted by myself. I’ve tried to express four different textures of four paintings in a single painting(A picture of Mother Mary with gold stripes, fancy rose painted on white ceramic, embroidered rose bushes and for last an oil painting on box painted by myself.) The objects in this still life are deeply related to my lover’s relationship with me. This painting is inspired by Yohannes Vermeer. The element of golden light being reflected from the picture of Mother Mary and the bright illuminated surface on the lamp resemble such elements of Vermeer as milk from the Milkmaid and pearl earring from the Girl with Pearl Earring, attracting the attention of viewers.

South Korea
Hi, I am Okbi. I was born and raised in Korea. Okbi is my artist name, by the way. I don't like my real name as it's a bit common in Korea. As common as Becky in the English speaking world, I guess.I majored in fine art and usually paint with my iPad. The big reason being that Korea is kind of small, and the rent is high. So I tend to work with my iPad since I lack the place to store lots of materials. Until last year, I was obsessed with so-called contemporary art, critical toward discriminations against those marginalized in Korean society. Then I met people who worked on such art while not knowing a reason why Sewol Ferry disaster happened; and also those who didn't even know why the South Korean president was impeached. I became doubtful, and these days I tend to focus on works that are more personal. I wouldn't bring out my personal "dark past," however. I had enough chance to work with my past in college. Furthermore, I believe art should be beautiful, not dark.
