A particularity that has characterised Andrea Neri's work from the very beginnings of the 90s is that of working with found, recycled objects. Objects crossed by Time and by Memory. Around ten years ago his work on books begins with frescos and encaustics on a paper support, a technical challenge, overcome with complex method. Operating on a medium which contains Memory, and in this case Wisdom also, provides an emotive and conceptual involvement and responsibility. On the wake of these works a work on "Music" is born. 33 recycled LP vinyls receive similar treatment. The strength of the fire on a vinyl support initially complicated the construction of the work, but ultimately the result was obtained successfully. The record loses its original functionality and receives a new nature, a new life. The concept of "L'ascolto" ("Listening") moves to a different plane. The works must not just be observed, they must be 'listened to'. An open, permeable attitude is suggested, to understand the strength and allure. The case in which they are contained is part of the work; the vinyl is suspended, its own title becomes the "Name" of the work and the vinyl sleeve is preserved and included within the work.

Andrea Neri is a multimedia artist employing many creative techniques. In the middle of the 1980s Neri originated a complex individual technique based on the interaction between different non-heterogeneous materials with the natural elements of water, air and fire. Artworks, which by the artist himself have been named “frescoed and encaustic paintings”, have often been projected towards installation, by means of constant, forward-looking experimentation and a combination of fragments, objects and images of different provenience. At the end of the 1990s, with the use of new digital techniques, the artist recaptures his love for photography by creating manipulated images. The artworks produced are concepts and ideas formulated through the same processes of communication; consequently, they take on a cutting edge conceptual aspect.
