As a painter who's first love was Oil paint, then Acrylic paint, I was very slow to pick up a digital paint brush not believing that it could compare to the creative experience I enjoy when painting in the traditional mediums. I have educated myself and find that painting using state of the art digital tools gives me as much freedom and scope as a visual artist and painter in any other medium. I now enjoy painting both digitally and in the traditional mediums. This work 'On Our Way At Last' is inspired by my childhood memories of Summer holidays. In particular that strange excitement and awe I would feel as a trusting passenger in the back of my parents car on our way to a rental holiday home. I witnessed new vistas unfold and anticipated the adventure and mystery of an empty strange house waiting for us perfumed with the scent of the sea and clean sheets in old rooms . That magical journey towards the unknown and the joyful absurdity that children can sense so keenly. -Annick Molloy -22Sep 2020- If choosing the limited edition series please know the following: The limited edition print is 40"x40" as Giclee/archival gallery quality, stamped, numbered, dated and hand signed by the artist. Ireland
I'm an Irish artist. Born and raised in Athlone town but have lived in Dublin City for many years now. I am from a family of creative people including my mother who taught me about drawing and painting. Just by watching my mother draw and paint, and thanks to a beautiful little box of oil paints I received as a Christmas gift when I was 10, - over the years painting and drawing has become an important form of expression for me and I would say is intrinsic to who I am. I had to leave formal education at 16 years old. But my informal education has been comprehensive and broad in scope and difficulty. As a mature student I was awarded first prize in an international scholarship program competition for my original artwork in digital media, run by Escuela DaVinci Buenos Aires -primera esciela de arte multimedial . I feel like I should be writing this in the third person to allow for a more professional touch, but she just couldn't bring herself to do it!
