This painting is inspired by Hieronymus Bosch painting "The Seven Deadly Sins and the Four Last Things". The largest difference between these two paintings is in the centre. In the 500 years old version at the centre is the large circle, which is said to represent the eye of God, in which Christ can be seen . In my version the Lord is sleeping. To be a confessor for 2000 years is tiring. Each panel in the outer circle depicts a different sin. Clockwise from bottom right corner (Latin names in brackets): 1. Pride (superbia): There are two women, one with her back to the viewer, is s simple worker. She looks at her reflection in a magic sphere held up by a demon - her boss. By this focus the boss is demonstrating her foolishly and irrationally corrupt sense of personal value, status or accomplishments. 2. Lust (luxuria): A naked lady enjoys a performance in a pink tent, with two naked clowns to entertain her. 3. Sloth (acedia): A lazy couple dozes in front of the fireplace while Faith appears to them in a dream, in the guise of books, to remind them to say their prayers. 4. Gluttony (gula): A drunkard swigs from a bottle while sitting on a fat meat ball. 5. Avarice or greed (avaritia): A crooked parlement members pretends to listen sympathetically to their voters, while slyly accepting a bribe from the other party. 6. Envy (invidia): A couple standing in their doorway cast envious looks at a rich man with his girlfriend, with her eye on the well-filled purse at his waist. 7 Wrath (ira): A furious female war angel expels from Eden two drunken peasants. These two didn't obeyed the rules set by management and are considered to be first two refugees in the world. Red from sustained anger small red snakes wore the wrath into the world.
