About The Artwork

"An eye-catcher that will make any room shine." It seems as if the scene depicted was from another time. A time when we could hug our loved ones without restrictions. An embrace can be so little and so much at the same time. A hug can signal familiarity, friendship, affection, joy, comfort, fear and recognition. It gives us a sense of warmth and security. But with the Corona pandemic, suddenly everything is different. A symbol of security has become a symbol of threat for billions of people. Many people can't wrap their heads around this contradiction. The "Chelsea" is a small pub in Vienna. I remember people happily cavorting on the dance floor, moving to the music and simply having a great evening. Carefree and free from all worries. With "A loving Hug" I wanted to express exactly these feelings. At the same time it is a painting about the longing for them.

Florian wants his art to encourage people to immerse themselves in the moment and enjoy what is there. His works mostly represent the point of view of a silent observer - with a lot of space to see and discover for yourself. He believes that engaging with the moment and one's being is an essential part of mental health. Therefore, he uses bold, vibrant colors to stimulate the viewer to feel. His mediums include oil, acrylic, marker, oil pastel and gold leaf. His fascination with color was inspired by the vibrant works of artists such as August Macke, Paul Klee and Franz Marc. Another influence was Goethe with his color theory and the various effects of color on people. Psychological well-being is at the core of his art. In the time of a major depression he found his way to painting. In it he discovered his passion, with which Florian processes and expresses his feelings.
