The artist’s art has always been driven by two essential visual basics: a strong sense of the abstract and bold, simplified shapes. With those basics for her style, there is often a third element that turns her work; her environment. The light, natural elements and intriguing landscapes feed the artist’s imagination and drives her to express its essence. In “Algae on Wall”, the artist demonstrates these ideas in various ways that are suited for expression in mixed media: using amazing color and graphic patterning, creating visual depth by layering, and employing textural and mixed media techniques. The translucency and the versatility of the different materials provide endless possibilities for creating delicate and vibrant works of art. As an artist, she sees beauty in natural occurrences, such as algae dripping down seawalls, mold on depilated walls or rusted out metals. Those types of patterns are fascinating to her. They are abstracts created by nature and intrigue her to design her pieces. The painting is signed on the back and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. I coat my work twice with UV Archival Varnish to protect the painting and place felt pads on the back to protect the wall. The artwork is on 1.5" canvas and all four sides are painted and ready to hang.

I am an abstract painter expressing my work by exploring the relationship between nature and our environment. Using dialogue between the two can be my best source of inspiration. The tactility of multiple textures and building of layers, are the backbones of my pieces. The severity of the elements can age and weather and create the most interesting designs. The distressed look of patina on metal and dilapidating walls intrigues me by their abstract surfaces and patterns. These textures and layers give depth and dimension to my paintings and are common elements in all my series. I currently live and work in the Berkshires on Western Massachusetts.
