This painting is a colour reproduction of a vintage black and white photograph of my grandmother holding my father on his first birthday. In this painting one can see the Indian tradition of dressing up the baby for the first birthday. Usually a big party is also held where parents of the 1 year old call all their friends for the celebration. The baby is being dressed up as Lord Krishna, a prominent character in the Mahabharath and one of the Hindu gods of India.
