This is one of my most structured paintings. It’s basically done in the one style which is unusual for me. I planned it quite intensely and it’s made up of a lot of little drawings which are executed in a Sienna brown colour. The background too is a wash of translucent brown as well. All the images came from one of my favourite movies (which I lent to my sister and then lost it!). The movie was titled Basquiat and tells the amazing story of the artist Jean Michel Basquiat. As I was watching the movie, I continually made sketches of different parts of the movie. The largest image is that of Andy Warhol of whom David Bowie played the part. There was this great scene towards the end of the movie where Warhol and Basquiat were working on a painting together and Warhol was annoyed with Basquiat because he kept painting and crossing out a lot of what Warhol had painted. Basquiat had made this weird looking hat for Basquiat and you can see it in the painting.
