Oil painting with a scene of city landscape Artillerias Street street in Riga, Latvia. It is located in the center of the wooden Riga district. We see road, cars, wooden buildings and blooming lilac bushes. It is spring, a sunny and a warm day. Now it is part of old town, city history with wooden architecture, very popular in the end of 19th century. Riga was like that until the middle of the 20th century. In different parts of the city, wooden structures still remained that belonged to various prosperous citizens - Russians, Germans, Dutch, Swedes and others. This gives each goal its own unique style of architecture. Now wooden buildings are of great interest, carefully kept by the city authorities, attract many tourists and artistic people. I love this part of the Riga, there are many gardens, vegetable gardens, with flowering bushes of lilac and apple trees, cherries, pears. In the spring, walking along these streets is very nice. It is quiet, there is no fuss, people live, and sweet aromas of flowers are flying around you. Artwork was created in 2019. It is close to impressionism or expressionism style, with bright colours and warming mood. Oil on canvas and carton.

Searching for my own path in painting took me a certain time. It has passed nine years since my first attempts to paint. However, during last several years I have started feeling self-assured, as my works reached desired level of skilfulness and artistic approach, and I really started liking them. Currently my love to post-impressionist artists' paintings became especially strong. I am often inspired by the works of Vincent van Gogh, Henri Toulouse-Lautrec, Edouard Vuillard, Albert Marquet, and Latvian artist Janis Valters. Most of all I value coloristic beauty of their works as well as the artists’ ability to show the weather conditions and the state of the nature with one brush stroke. Now I look into the future with greater confidence, think over new creative plans, and expect fulfilling them!
