About The Artwork

This temple is located in Hanoi, Vietnam. According to the ancient legend, this place was built by King Li Kong Uan to worship a pair of mother dogs and puppies who became gods. When a puppy was born, spots appeared on its fur that formed the word “Son of Heaven,” corresponding to the accession of King Li Kong Wan to the throne. In 1980, the old temple was demolished to make way for a children's playground and warehouse. Then the place was once used as a cafe. Te city authorities approved the temple restoration project in 2014. However the Board decided to give the temple a new name - Thuy Chung Tien Temple instead of the old title Kau Ni.
