Along the shore the cloud waves break, The twin suns sink behind the lake, The shadows lengthen In Carcosa. Chambers, The King in Yellow. 1895 This picture comes from a completely different inspiration. I love horror stories, especially those connected to the Cthulhu mythos by H. P. Lovecraft. The King in Yellow by Robert W. Chambers somehow particularly appealed to me. The picture shows the two suns from Cassilda's Song setting in (or rather beyond) the lake of Hali. On the right, Carcosa appears in the mists, on the left is Yhitll, the city that will become Carcosa when the King in Yellow appears. I tried to capture the seedy atmosphere.... I use premium oil colours and professional canvas (300 g/m2) for my paintings.
