About The Artwork
I was lucky enough to sit next to Chris Galvin, the Michelin starred chef, restauranteur and all round nice guy, at a recent dinner. I asked him his favourite herb. His answer surprised me. Chervil. I had heard of it but couldn't picture it. That summer I grew several pots of Chervil and, as well as enjoying it's delicate flavour in cooking, I found it to be an extremely attractive plant. Leaves like parsley but slightly fuller and heavier. I took some cuttings from one of my plants into the studio and captured it in oils along with some plump fragrant garlic. The result is a painting that I am so fond of I have a print of it hanging in my own kitchen.
