Lamy, New Mexico is an interesting little town. The abandoned mission style church speaks to more robust times. Like all my pastels, I load the paper with color.

United States
Born in 1951 Chicago, Illinois.. I'm a Yankee boy transplanted to California as a teen and I drew all over it until I chased my kids to New Mexico. I love California - it's geography, it's people, and it's cultures, and now I have a new love in the places, peoples and cultures of New Mexico. Some of my work is whimsical, some is realistic, and some in a style I've developed that I call Danimism. Danimism is based on the notion that the entire cosmos is animated. Rocks, trees, planets, everything is in motion. Some of this motion we can perceive, like seeing a bird fly, and some we can't, like the wind upon which it glides. Much of this motion we can't see, like the slow dance of the growing vine or the march of an alluvial plain. All matter is dynamic, and motion underlies everything. The conceit of Danimism is to attempt to capture the feeling of that dynamism on a static page.
