Alone in my studio, I want to communicate my strong connection to nature. I get my inspiration through my walks in the forest. I am fascinated by the intertwining of branches, the delicacy of their laces, the color of the sunshine through the leaves in the forest. I use colors in acrylics or watercolors, on paper, wood or canvas. I enjoy creating new colors by accumulation, saturation and numerous layering of different colors. I build my paintings with multiple applications of washes on the surface. Shadows and lights play with transparency and saturation of colors. Sometimes the eye can enter in the depth of the light of the painting or sometimes it stays on the surface, blocked by dark intense hues. One can perceive the light filtering through the forest or shining on the surface of a river. The vibrations created, the tonal strength and the harmonies give some impression of music. In the end, each color is connected with the ones around to invent some kind of symphony for the eyes. Each painting bears the next one. I build a new painting from what I read in the one just finished and the result of the following one is unpredictable. I like the tension of not knowing what the result will be, I like to surprise myself… Crossroads of colors, aerial views of some ancient cities, organic forms cover the surface of my painting weaving links from right to left, from up and down creating a web similar to those social links that keep us connected to one another. I like to think that my paintings are also some kind of music for the eyes… I live and work in Quebec City where I received a BFA in visual arts from Laval University. I have attended many formations through out the years to improve my knowledge in arts. My works have been showed in many solo exhibitions in Quebec and I have been invited to participate in various group exhibitions in Quebec and abroad: Cuba, Scotland, France, Ireland, Belgium, Poland and Germany. One can see my art in private and main public collections: Loto-Québec, Desjardins, Pratt&Whitney, Vestey Group of London, Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec, Library and Archives Canada.
