About The Artwork

The crowned crane is one of the most beautiful and unusual species of crane: its head is adorned with a crown of feathers. Because of it this bird looks like a king. The crowned crane is considered the totem of a number of peoples inhabiting Uganda and is revered by many locals as a sacred creature. That is why the crowned crane is depicted on the coat of arms of this country. The crane is a sacred bird for all peoples who lived next to it. In Russia, it personifies loyalty, in Armenia - one of the national symbols. In China, the crane symbolizes wisdom, honor, beauty, longevity and vigilance. In the East, the crane is considered a mediator between the world of gods and people. The 8 cranes in the picture symbolize wealth and prosperity (because in Chinese culture, the number 8 has just such a meaning). Red symbolizes joy, beauty, love and fullness of life. Gold color means material abundance, so earlier in history gold was worn only by kings, princes, nobles and other nobles. The picture will bring material abundance, love and fullness of life to its owner.

My name is Daria Tikhomirova and I live and work in Barcelona. I'm inspired a lot by silk and I mostly work with this fabric. I love its' softness, transparency. It made me think if silk paintings with 3D effect. You may find one in my profile, it's "Russian Seasons in Paris" with 5 ballerinas. There are two layers of silk that create this effect of third dimension. I love ballet and I have a series of works with ballet dancers. I participated in the Salon des Artistes Français in 2016 and in Drouot sales (organised by musee MoLA). In 2018 I took part in the Salon des Artistes Indépendants in the Grand Palais (Paris). I regularly take part in exhibitions in Russia.
