About The Artwork
This image is representing some of my dreams, always strange and narrative sometimes scary. I'll often wake and try to hold on to the dream, remember the stage and other times I want to quickly forget. I have sleep disorders so without medication I can act out my dreams, usually they are violent dreams that can cause me to yell or throw myself out of bed. This will of course frighten my husband and the dog will try to wake me up when this happens. But other dreams are just puzzling, like flying over a beach. This is me, trying to protect against the negatives. Luckily me dog wakes me when the dreams cause too much noise or movement. He puts his paws on my legs or chest so I'll wake up. He is very protective.

I was born in Norway and my parents and I emigrated when I was almost 6 years old. I have been absorbed with drawing as long as I can remember. After raising my daughters I returned to school and graduated from Cornish College of the Arts in 1999. Since then I have had the luxury of painting what I think about and dream about. Many of the images refer to my early childhood stimulated by the box of black & white snapshots my father saved. I was a lonely child until my siblings arrived and of course I did feel like an outsider, learning the language wasn't hard but fitting in was. Another direction that I travel is in my interest in the universe, theories about quantum mechanics fascinate me and confuse me enough to keep venturing towards understanding
