About the Artwork DESCRIPTION: When viewing this painting, I want you to feel happy, soothed and relaxed. I want to bring you back to the beautiful area of Tuscany, the winding green roads that meander through the countryside. Imagine taking in the gorgeous landscapes, the rich architecture and magnificent, renaissance art. To think about a time you could appreciate a nice bottle of wine, whilst sharing a beautiful Italian dinner with good company and wonderful conversation. When I started painting this piece, I had the tune Yellow by Coldplay going around in my head. Especially the words “Look at the stars, see how they shine for you”. So, I knew I had to put yellow in this piece. It gave me a sense of serenity. I hope it does this for you as well. Red also had a significance to me, because Tuscany, I felt, seduced each person with its natural and renaissance art and architecture. Tuscany is blessed: it’s got an incredible number of splendid landscapes, beautiful architecture and the art is to die for. Tuscany is the cradle of the Renaissance, which means that its towns and cities architecture and art will leave you speechless. They all have art museums, like the Uffizi in Florence. I wanted to capture nature, in the form of grapes and a green tunnel, like the winding roads that meander through this region. The area has the most amazing olive groves and vineyards. Walking down the streets on the old parts of Tuscany, takes one back in time. You find yourself constantly looking up at the rich architecture. Even the cracks, which have been repaired add something intriguing to make it stand out. The not so perfect, is still perfectly perfect with its imperfections, such as the leaning tower of Pisa. Without the huge lean, it would still be beautiful, but maybe not as appreciated as much as it is for standing out and celebrating a unique difference. I used bright colours in this piece, as it makes me feel happy and it reminds me of how I felt whilst visiting the region of Tuscany, in particular Pisa and Florence. Green: the colour green in this piece is more of an olive green (like the green olives in this region), with added different shades of olive green. I have also represented the green of the flag in my grape leaves. Green is the colour of life, renewal, nature, and energy, is associated with meanings of growth, rebirth, harmony, freshness, safety, fertility, and environment. Green is also traditionally associated with money and finance etc. The colour green has healing powers and is understood to be the most restful and relaxing colour for the human eye to view. Green can help enhance vision, stability and endurance. Yellow: to me the colour yellow represents sunshine, happiness, and warmth. Blue: represents water and the sky. Orange: symbolises energy, vitality, cheer, excitement, adventure, warmth, and good health. Black and White: I added this for contrast, but also to depict night and day. Italian colours (green, white and red): I had to make sure that these colours were represented, as they are the colours of the Italian flag. Red: for me is the colour of seduction, love and passion. The other colours are various hues of the three primary colours. MATERIALS: It is painted with high-quality acrylic Golden paint, and medium on high-quality cotton canvas. A thin layer of varnish protects the artwork against UV light and dust. SIGNATURE: It is signed on the front right-hand side and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. HANG: The artwork is stretched on a wooden frame and wired. It is painted white on the edges, but has staples at the back. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the artist. ---------------------------------- "Bright colours and the colours of nature inspire me the most. I like to push my art and I am trying to create my own style. I let the painting talk to me and intuitively direct me to paint freely what my emotions want to express. Painting is my happy place and I hope you see this in my artwork. It’s not unusual for me to dream how I would like to paint a painting and I often pour these dreams and emotions onto the canvas. Each painting has a point where the canvas and paint have an intuitive synergy and through the language of art, it seems to communicate with me. Each painting tends to tell a story, which is unique to me, but I feel it can be easily understood by all. I mostly use acrylic golden paints, medium and sometimes inks. I work layer after layer, creating transparencies, revealing beautiful textures and design elements. I want you to be able to see, but also feel the artwork, as it’s a collaboration of sight and touch. I strive to create an ethereal element, that makes the viewer look deeper into the picture. My artwork evokes joy and I want you to feel the joy that I feel when you look at this painting. It’s an invitation into the works of my emotions, which are unique, joyous, passionate and full of energy. It is my take on abstract expressionism. Trish has always had an artistic streak, making decorative candle holders, furniture and other artefacts. Her friends would ask her to make some for them also. In 2018 Trish was diagnosed with breast cancer and through her subsequent journey, she rekindled her artistic purpose and began painting. She likes to paint using bright colours and things which give her joy. All her paintings are intuitive from the heart and are the product of many many hours of painstaking work, and many layers. Trish loves textures and currently paints in acrylic with glazing on canvas using a variety of techniques, such as impasto or sgraffito, and also often includes gold leaf or other materials.
